New furniture and eating out

Over the weekend I went to IKEA and picked up a Billy bookcase. 202cm tall and 80cm wide. It's pretty huge and weighs about 40kg. It was very difficult heaving that thing around, especially in my currently lardball shape. I put it togther yesterday and got all my books arranged on it.

I'm still low on space.

Who knew that I had enough books to fill that sized bookcase? I expected to have quite a bit more room to grow my library, but it looks like I'm going to need more space if I want to do that. I still have a handful of books that need reading, plus my wife has suggested that I prep for the JLPT level 1 test this fall. So my wallet may get a short reprieve from my book reading for a short time.

Last night I took the family out to Planet Hollywood Tokyo Disneyland. It's the only place nearby where you can get a decent fajita. The next closest place is out in the middle of Tokyo, and I'm not too fond of getting out that far, especially in this summer heat.

Planet Hollywood distinguishes itself by being a sort of movie museum as well as a mediocre restaurant. They had a life-sized Spiderman crawling up the wall, Freddy Krueger's striped outfit, a torso and arms costume of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Johnny's tournament gi from the Karate Kid, and a Chucky doll. Julian didn't get the coolness of the Karate Kid outfit, but he loved Chucky. He just kept checking the evil little doll out and asking us to take him closer for a better look.

On the way out of the restaurant, he made a big scene. He wanted to take the Chucky doll home. Yeah... No way, Jose. My wife was just a bit creeped out.

What a weird kid. First, he loves asparagus and broccoli. Now he's into devil dolls. What's next??
